Day 30 - A picture of someone you miss

This is my grandmother and great grandmother. I'm not sure how old they were in this photo, I will have to ask my mom. But this is how I remember them. They took such good care of themselves, always looking their best, hair permed and nails painted. I almost never saw them in sweatpants.

My great grandmother, whom we called Ouma Suzie ("Ouma" is Afrikaans for grandmother), passed away when I was in elementary school, I think I was 9 or 10 years old. But I remember her very well. She and my grandmother lived in the same town as us, and we were at their house most of the time, because they had cable TV, the best video games and a drawer full of candy.

My grandmother, whom we called Ouma Nonnie (her real name was Noreen),was a terrific cook and her house was always clean and organized. She loved playing video games and was the best at Tetris. She held the high score for as long as I can remember. Sadly, Ouma Nonnie passed away last year after being very sick, and in a special home, for 12 years.

I miss them everyday, and I wish they could see us all now and what we've been up to. They would've loved that we are traveling and seeing the world and I know they would be proud of us. I also know that if they were still here, they would have had Wii and the latest games, and probably the high scores as well.
