Fifty Shades of Indecisive

I recently finished the Fifty Shades Trilogy. After all the buzz it created in the media, I was intrigued and wanted to see for myself what the fuss was about. I read mixed reviews, but wanted to read it to have my own opinion about it.

I mean, when E.L. James wrote these books, I'm sure she wasn't thinking: "By golly, these books will be right up there with Jane Eyre and A Tale of Two Cities." Obviously, it was not intended to be literally classics, but just some easy reads. And that's what it was. I flew through the three books.

It was my first time reading an erotic novel, and I must say, it did make me blush fifty shades of red at times. I even made The Boyfriend read me a page out loud and quite enjoyed the shocked expression on his face. I'd recommend it to anyone that's not a book snob and can just enjoy it for what it is.

I've been kind of stuck on what to read next though and I'm being very indecisive. I enjoy a variety of genres, and am usually up for anything that someone recommends to me. I need some suggestions, people. I would love to know which books you have enjoyed recently, and which ones you are planning on reading in the next few months.

What should be on my fall and winter reading list?

  1. Here is an idea for a book: Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.
Its on the other end of the spectrum as far as the Fifty Shades books are concerned, and not at all new, but it is an amazing read.
And to The Boyfriend: I feel your pain! My dearest wife did the same to me.

    1. Wow, you've loved Terry Pratchett's books since elementary school, haven't you? That's awesome! I've never read any of the books. Should "Good Omens" be my first?

    2. Sure thing. The Discworld series of books are set in another universe and is very fantasy driven.
Good Omens is set on good old mother earth... also somewhat fantasy driven...
If you like Good Omens you can go ahead and jump into the Discworld series of books.
The first two or three books don't read as easily as the rest in the series, but are still great.
There. That should keep your reading time occupied for a while.
      Now go get Good Omens!

    1. How was "American Gods"? Would you recommend it?

    2. I love it, it's a book definitely has got a lot of different layers and levels in it, metaphorically describing American society in many different respects and it can go all the way to the max. Anyway, I'm thinking about reading again.

    1. I read "Act like a lady, think like a man" about 3 years ago and LOVED it! I think it's a must-read for young women. It definitely opened my eyes to the way men think, and it has helped me a lot in my relationship.

Thank you for your sweet comment, I hope you'll always come back for more! :-)

    2. Oh. I definitely will, Liesl! ♥

Before I start reading "Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man", I have finished reading Confidence: How to Succeed at Being Yourself by Dr. Alan Loy McGinnis. Such a good book! ♥

  4. I'm currently reading "Memoirs of a Gas Station", about a guy who goes to Alaska for a seasonal job. It's pretty good so far. http://www.amazon.com/Memoirs-Gas-Station-Delightfully-ebook/dp/B007W68SDG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1349388568&sr=8-1&keywords=memoirs+of+a+gas+station

  5. Wow I think I'm the only one who didn't like Fifty Shades of Grey. I read 130 pages and had enough of it.

I would recommend reading Emily Giffins' bookd (favorites includes "Baby Proof" and her newest one "Where We Belong".) She falls under the chick lit genre.

    1. Actually, there are many people who didn't like the book. The first one was definitely not the best out of the three though.

Thanks for your recommendation, I'll check it out right now. :-)
