I Woke Up Like This

Yay for long weekends and cozy days at home! Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to all my friends here in Taiwan, I hope you got to celebrate it with your families and loved ones this weekend. And happy Monday to the rest of you, I hope it's not a blue one.

We'll be taking it easy today and spend the day lounging at home, as the weather is absolutely miserable because of typhoon Dujuan that's currently making its way here. This means I'll be spending most of the day in a comfy t-shirt and catch up on some reading and maybe do some online shopping... Perfect!

Have a good Monday, y'all!

A Dash of Detail

After traveling in Europe for three weeks I'm back in Taipei, rested and ready to get back in the swing of things. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that we had a jam-packed Eurotrip, and if you were wondering if I'd be writing about our travels, the answer is YES, of course! And it will be up on the blog, soon.

Today I wanted to share with you a cute outfit idea I had for Autumn, which is slowly but surely creeping up on us. (Although here in Taiwan we'll probably just go straight from a very humid Summer to a cool Winter some time around November).

I've been absolutely obsessed with these lace-up flats, and I've been having a lot of fun creating different outfits to wear it with. I saw these pretty black shorts on SheIn, and fell in love with the lacy detail. For this look I just added an oversized sweater, my beloved Daniel Wellington watch, and voila! Let me know what you think.

Girls in White Dresses

I have this thing with wearing white in Summer. And I'm not exaggerating when I confess that more than half of my closet consists of white pieces. I just can't get enough! What do you think about this white crochet dress I got from RoseGal?

Dress:

Watch:

I feel especially girly in this dress, and I love the crochet detail at the bottom that gives it that little extra sumthin' sumthin'. Here I'm wearing it with my beloved Daniel Wellington Classic Sheffield watch, and I'd pair it with my favorite Summer sandals from Joie when heading out.

What is your favorite color to wear in Summer?

We received our wedding photos! *jumping up and down while clapping my hands*. It's only been 2 days since we got them, but I've probably gawked at them a thousand and one times. Is this really MY wedding!?

Moira West Photography did an excellent job at capturing our special day, and I couldn't be happier about how they turned out.We will receive our DVD with about 400 edited images soon, but for now I'm basically glued to Moira's website, looking at the photos she's already posted.

How on earth am I going to choose which ones to get printed!? HELP! I would LOVE to know which ones are your favorites.

Shoe Review: REPETTO Ballerina Cendrillon flats

"I finally have enough pairs of ballet flats", said no girl ever. Most of you know, I love me a good pair of ballerina flats, and it's very very hard for me not to purchase more. Do I need five pairs of nude ballet flats? Probably not. Do I keep buying them? Absolutely. They're just so pretty. Oh well, I've made my peace with my ballerina flat addiction, and so should you!

REPETTO flagship boutique on Rue de la Paix

While in Paris last month, we wandered into the REPETTO flagship boutique on Rue de la Paix. (Okay okay, I twirled in there like a wannabe ballerina and The Fiancé followed, as he didn't really have much of a choice...) He waited patiently for me while I was fluttering around the store, gushing over all the beautiful shoes, and he didn't complain once. (And that's just one of the many reasons why I love him!) What a lovely store. It's so girly and filled to the brim with beautifully made ballet flats and actual ballet shoes. Girly girl heaven!

REPETTO Ballerina Cendrillon in black

I tried on a few pairs and ended up getting the Ballerina Cendrillon in black vegetal-like leather. Can you ever go wrong with a good pair of black ballet flats? And for my birthday this month, I also purchased the Ballerina Cendrillon in taupe vegetal-like leather. (Yes, I buy myself birthday presents...)

Sizing

I'm a US size 7.5 and got these in a European size 40. They definitely advise you to go up a full size when purchasing these flats. Luckily, they are available in half sizes as well, so you'll definitely be able to find a pair that fits perfectly. I do recommend trying on a pair before buying it. But if you plan on buying it online, I would recommend going up a full size.

Fit

From the get-go, these flats felt like I've worn them for years. No need to "wear them in", as they immediately take on the shape of your foot. I haven't experienced any blisters, redness or chafing AT ALL. Which is awesome for a new pair of ballet flats.

Quality

No need to worry if you're getting bang for your buck. The quality of the leather is top-shelf and these will last you a very long time if you take good care of them.

Price

Okay, so here comes the downside; They're not cheap. I paid 185 (about US$247) for my pair in Paris (although I did get a 12% tax refund.) To me, they are worth every penny. The taupe pair I got for a way better price online on sale at FORWARD by Elyse Walker for US$173. Maybe a little extravagant for a pair of ballet flats, but hey, I don't judge others on what they spend their money on.

Final thoughts

I'm thinking that these flats are going to last me more than one season, because of the excellent quality, which is great. But, I do think that the price is a bit steep, and that it's better to try and find it on sale online. Overall, LOVE THESE and will definitely recommend them to other flat-obsessed-females like myself.

Shoe Review: TORY BURCH Reva ballet flats

It's been a while since I've done a fashion review, hasn't it? I was inspired to write about the Tory Burch Reva ballet flats after receiving so many questions about them lately.

Any ballerina flat-lover worth her salt owns, or wants to own, a pair of Tory Burch Reva flats. And for good reason! They are available in many different colors and they can be dressed up, or down, depending on the occasion.

Available colors

I bought my first pair of Tory Burch Reva flats in November 2009 at the Tory Burch store in Hong Kong. At that time, I've been drooling over them for a while, but I was quite hesitant to buy them because I read so many mixed reviews on them. But, I "needed" them...

At the moment, I own two pairs; the black Nappa leather ones with the gold logo medallion and the nude/sand color patent leather ones, also with the gold logo medallion.

My Tory Burch Reva flats

Sizing

Good thing I tried them on, because just as most reviews online had stated, these flats do run small for most people, and you will have to buy a half or full size up. I usually wear a US size 7.5 and I got my Reva's in a US size 8. The shoe is quite narrow, but after some wear it will stretch out a bit.

Fit

I'm not a huge fan of the back of the flat, with the elastic band, probably designed to avoid chafing your ankle, because it will actually make the flats slip off my feet sometimes. I don't know if that happens to anyone else? Also, they were extremely uncomfortable in the beginning and I had to wear them quite a few times to break them in properly. But beauty is pain, right?

Quality

I really can't say anything bad about the quality of these flats. The leather is soft and the medallion logo have stayed put even after 1.5 years of wearing them, and wearing them often.

Price

When I bought my first pair of Reva's, the black Nappa leather ones with the gold medallion, they were under US$200. Now, you can buy the same pair for US$225. The patent leather ones are a little more expensive at US$235.

Final thoughts

I personally love the Tory Burch Reva ballet flats. I think they are beautiful, elegant and classic. I take very good care of my shoes and wear them often, which makes it worth the price. My pair of black Nappa leather Reva flats has become a staple in my closet, and I'll repurchase them one day when I've worn out my current pair.

Other Tory Burch purchases:

Tory Burch Sophie Wedge (US$295)

Tory Burch Emmy flat thong sandal (US$195)

I've also purchased the Tory Burch Sophie wedge in black with the gold logo medallion, and the Tory Burch Emmy flat thong sandals in tan. With these, I also had to buy them in a half size up.

Do you own a pair of Tory Burch Reva flats? Feel free to share your thoughts and experience with us.

Capturing December: Day 1 to 3

It's December Photo-a-Day Challenge time! At first I was thinking of posting the photos on my blog daily, but then I decided it would be easier to wait a few days to post some pics.

I do, however, post the pics daily on my Twitter and Instagram, so you can check them out on there. If you're feeling up for the challenge as well, it's not too late to join, and don't forget to add the hashtag #ACHdecember to your pictures.

Okay, so here we go with the photos for day 1 to 3:

December 1st - Your view today

On Saturday morning I had a wisdom tooth extracted and afterwards I had no other plan than to veg out in front of the TV for the entire day. The rainy weather and my comfy knitted blanket provided the perfect atmosphere for a day filled with New Girl, How I met your Mother and Australia's Next Top Model.

December 2nd - Favorite holiday movie

Can you believe that this movie was released 22 years ago!? I've always been a huge fan of Home Alone and watch it every year during the holidays. This is my favorite Christmas movie and the sequel to this one, where he was in New York, is a close second.

December 3rd - Red

This is one of the Christmas sweaters that I bought last year...and... it's red! Perfect for today's picture. I haven't worn it yet this year, because obviously a Christmas sweater with reindeer on it might be frowned upon outside the month of December (but then again, I do live in Asia, so maybe not...). Anyway, I decided to wear it again today for the occasion, and also, now that it's around Christmas time, it's once again acceptable for me to flaunt the reindeer.

I'll be back with some more December-themed pics in a few days, so stay tuned!

Blazers for Fall/Winter 2012

Kate Moss for Mango Fall 2012
Who doesn't love blazers for fall and winter? If I could, I'd buy one in every color imaginable. For someone like me who likes to wear a plain white shirt and jeans or black leggings, adding a blazer instantly spruces up an otherwise mundane outfit.

I also love the versatility of a blazer. When the weather is still nice in the fall time, you can just roll up the sleeves, and wear it over something thin and cool and even shorts. And as the weather gets colder, just roll down those sleeves, add some layers underneath it, and voila!

Here are pictures of some of my favorite blazers at the moment, and what I'd probably wear it with:

Bright blue blazer from Mango

Blazer: Mango, Watch: Michael Kors, Leggings: Mango, Flats: Tory Burch
Blazer: Mango, Watch: Michael Kors, Jeans: Zara, Flats: Tory Burch
I adore this blazer. I think the color would be very flattering on anyone, no matter your hair or skin color. It has big gold buttons on the front and the cut is very different from my other blazers. This might just be my favorite one out of the bunch.

Navy blue blazer from Zara

Blazer: Zara, Watch: Michael Kors, Leggings: Mango, Flats: Steve Madden
Blazer: Zara, Watch: Michael Kors, Jeans: Bershka, Flats: Tory Burch
I really love that this blazer has the shoulder thing going on, it brings something different to the silhouette. The sleeves have small gold buttons at the end, which makes it a little hard to roll up, but it's not impossible, it might just be a little chunky. Also, rolled down, the sleeves are quite long on me, so I'll have to make a quick trip to the seamstress soon.

Red blazer from Mango

Blazer: Mango, Watch: Michael Kors, Leggings: Mango, Flats: Tory Burch
Blazer: Mango, Watch: Michael Kors, Jeans: Mango, Flats: Steve Madden
The fabric is quite soft, definitely not the usual blazer material. This makes the blazer very light and super comfortable.

Beige blazer from Pull & Bear

Blazer: Pull & Bear, Watch: Michael Kors, Jeans: Forever 21, Flats: Steve Madden
Blazer: Pull & Bear, Watch: Michael Kors, Leggings: Mango, Moccasins: Minnetonka
This will be a nice blazer for the colder months, as it's definitely warmer than the others. I'll probably also dress this one up with a chunky warm scarf as well.

Do you like blazers? Which colors do you have/want?

Day 88 & 89 – A picture of what you're wearing today

I've decided to combine my posts for Day 88 (A picture of what you're wearing today) and Day 89 (A picture of the shoes you're wearing today), because I need to finish this picture challenge before I leave for vacation tomorrow.

So this is my second outfit of the day. I didn't have time to take a photo of my work outfit this morning, I was running late. It was boring anyway... Just a t-shirt and some shorts. I work at an elementary school and comfort is the way to go.

I went out for a quick early dinner with a friend, so I just put on this sheer orange sleeveless shirt from Forever 21, tucked into a pair of floral shorts I bought at a local store in Taiwan called NET,my gold Michael Kors watch and my nude patent leather flats from Tory Burch. Also, I'll used my Ladylike Turn Lock bag from Accessorize.

So that's my outfit. Happy Friday, everyone!
