Top 10 Tuesday: My favorite hair products

Hair and I used to agree on everything; until I moved to Taiwan. Hair started to hang out with Humidity, and together they made a baby, whom they dearly called Frizz. To deal with this problem, I got my hair chemically straightened, on top of it being bleached (*gasp!) Needless to say, we haven't agreed on anything since.

Last year I made the conscious decision to take better care of my hair, and since then I've tried out quite a lot of products. Now that my hurr is finally under control, I would like to share with you my favorite hair products.

My Top 10 Favorite Hair Products:

1. Kérastase Bain Satin 3 Shampoo
As I researched online which shampoo would be the best for my damaged hair, the Kérastase Bain Satin 3 Shampoo kept popping up. Although Kerastase products are quite pricey, it's definitely worth it. After only a couple of weeks' use, I saw a major improvement in the state of my hair.

2. Kérastase Masquintense Conditioner
All I can say, is that the Kérastase Masquintense Conditioner is a miracle product. No conditioner I've ever tried can come close to it. I usually leave it on for 5 minutes, but if I want an extra kick I'll leave it on for 15 minutes.

3. Kérastase Oleo-Relax Serum
The Kérastase Oleo-Relax Serum is also a wonderful product. After towel-drying my hair, I'll put a small amount in the palm of my hand and work it through the ends of my hair.

4. Moroccanoil Treatment
I alternate between Kerastase Oleo-Relax Serum and this treatment from Moroccanoil. This product smells great, and a little really goes a long way. I bought this back in December, and even though I have long hair, I still haven't finished the bottle.

5. Schwarzkopf BC Bonacure Repair Rescue Sealed Ends
I've really been loving this product for split ends from Schwarzkopf, which I'll apply after styling my hair. It takes only a very small amount, and only on the ends, to smooth out my hair.

6. TRESemme Heat Tamer Spray
I try not to use heat on my hair often, but when I do I always use this heat protective spray from TRESemme.

7. Garnier Fructis Style- Sleek & Shine hairspray
I hate hate hate using hair spray, but if I spend 30 minutes curling my hair, and don't want to lose the curls under less than 15 minutes, I have to use it. At the moment, I'm using this one from Garnier, which smells good and doesn't make my hair crunchy.

8. Conair Infiniti Curling Wand
I read many rave reviews on the Conair Infiniti Curling Wand online, and had to try it for myself. It makes beautiful curls, and it's so easy to use. Definitely recommend it!

9. ghd Gold Classic Styler Straightener
If you straighten your hair often, make sure you buy a proper straightener like this one. No need to go over the same hair over and over to get it straight. With this ghd straightener, you only need to go over the hair once, which minimizes heat damage.

10. ghd Paddle Brush
A big paddle brush is a must for long hair! I love this one from ghd.

I'm always up for trying new products, so let me know what your favorites are. I've been thinking about trying Moroccanoil's Intense Hydrating Mask. Has anyone used this?

  2. I have a similar relationship with my hair, or did until I also got my hair chemically straightened!! The BEST thing I ever did.

I think it's a must for anyone living in Asia.

And, forgive me if I am being rude, was it expensive in Taiwan? Here in Japan I paid the equivalent of $90 USD, but in the UK I have heard of people being quoted upwards of $250USD!!!

    1. I got my hair chemically straightened about four years ago, and I think it has finally all grown out. It was nice at that stage, because it was so easy to manage. But it really destroyed my hair in the long run.

I paid close to $250!! But to me, it was totally worth it at that time. There was just no more hope for that dog on my head! :-D

  3. Interesting post thanks for sharing!!

I've been meaning to get my hands on the Garnier Fructis Style- Sleek & Shine hairspray but just wasn't sure. I hate using hair spray too especially the ones that smell strong and bad.

    1. This one actually smells really good and fresh! And it's on the cheap side, so if you don't like it that much, at least you didn't waste a lot of money. ;-)

  6. kerastase is awesome but if you get a chance you should check out some of Shu Uemura's hair products. They are also great, esp for humidity. I'm heading back to Hong Kong in the Summer.. I'm dreading the "Frizz" LOL.

    1. I know what you mean! Taiwan is just as humid as Hong Kong, and it definitely does not agree with my hair.

I've never tried Shu Uemura's hair products. Thanks for the suggestion! :-)

  7. The moroccan oil is always on my want list, but I've always managed to d-prioritize it over a pair of shoes or a cute necklace :P

Your list put it back up (at least on the runner up hehe).

    1. Hehe! I know what you mean. Sometimes it's so hard spending cash on something like a hair product over a new pair of shoes or jewelry!

But you should definitely try it, you won't regret it. And your shiny hair will go well with your shiny jewelry :-)
